Lily & Jordan: a wedding at Radisson Blu and Glashaus Dortmund
Twelve friends getting ready together, a yellow bus full of excitement and around 400 people joining the celebrations: Lily and Jordan embraced a big wedding. Yet the little moments were everywhere. We captured their wedding in Dortmund in photographs and film, from morning until after midnight.
Getting ready at Radisson Blu Dortmund
Lily’s room was already full of life that morning: around twelve friends and bridesmaids, two make-up artists, little gifts and plenty of excitement. Not exactly a quiet morning at a hotel. But the laughter, encouraging words and first surprises were precisely what we wanted to capture. In between, we made time for the shoes, jewellery and finishing touches to the make-up.
With everyone together, a little more space was needed. Luckily, we had explored the Radisson Blu beforehand. Down in the lobby, we rearranged the seating and prepared a lovely spot for the group. Sometimes moving a little furniture is part of wedding photography too. Lily and her friends could then sit together, laugh and enjoy the morning.

Another cheerful gathering awaited us in Jordan’s room: around ten friends, plenty of jokes and a little silliness before everyone changed into their suits. We captured the atmosphere, took some portraits of Jordan on his own and then brought the men downstairs too. The spot was already waiting for them.
This is how we love to work: we find the light and a suitable setting, offer a little help where it is needed, then give you space to be together. You do not have to spend the whole day knowing what to do with your hands. That is part of what we are here for.

A church ceremony full of colour and feeling
Orange and purple flowers framed the altar, with those colours echoed in the guests’ outfits. Before everyone arrived, we photographed and filmed the decoration and the atmosphere of the church.

Then Lily and her friends arrived in the long yellow bus. It was impossible not to smile: an American school-bus look, with a rather special destination that day. Inside, Jordan was already waiting at the altar, his eyes returning to the entrance.
The live music began. First came the bridesmaids, then Lily’s father walked her down the reflective aisle towards Jordan. For a moment, all attention was on the two of them. From different angles, we captured their glances, the exchange of rings and their families’ reactions.
Congratulations and a bus full of excitement
Outside the church came hugs, congratulations and photographs together. During the couple portraits, we offered gentle prompts: a glance at each other, moving a little closer, a kiss. Alongside the spontaneous images, we created a few carefully composed memories.
Lily, Jordan and their friends climbed back aboard the yellow bus. We joined them briefly: music, champagne and smiling faces. Apparently, the party had decided not to wait until the reception. We captured that atmosphere before making our way to Glashaus.
Dancing into Glashaus Dortmund
Before the wedding party arrived at Glashaus, we photographed and filmed the room: the table settings, decorations and spaces that would soon be filled with guests.
First, their friends entered in pairs, dancing. Then came Lily and Jordan. Guests cheered on both sides as the couple sang to each other and danced into the middle of the room. Lily’s long veil trailed across the floor. We moved with them, cameras in hand – with that much joy around, standing still was hardly an option.
Time for the people celebrating with you
Around 400 guests means plenty of embraces – and plenty of people you want a photograph with. While the live band played, Valerie guided couples and small groups through their portraits. A step forward, a little closer together, one more look at the camera: with patience and friendly guidance, everyone found their place.
These photographs matter to us. They are about more than making sure everyone can be seen. They preserve the people who celebrated with you, shared your excitement and were wholeheartedly happy for you.
A song for Lily and a full dance floor
Then came a moment on stage: Jordan’s father began to sing, and Jordan joined in. Lily stood in the middle of the room as she and Jordan sang to each other. Some guests sang along. Our cameras moved between father and son, Lily and the faces around them. There was so much feeling at once, we wished we could look everywhere at the same time.
After the first dance, the dance floor belonged to everyone. We joined the guests with our cameras, capturing playful moments, embraces and exuberant dancing. Even after midnight, there was always something else we wanted to take home – in photographs, of course.
Saying goodbye was especially lovely. Conversations with guests became connections that have lasted. We will see some of them again at their own weddings. Whenever a friendly “Where can we find you?” leads to another meeting, it makes us smile.
